After morning service I took the boys to The Pickle Barrel so Johnny could pick out his pumpkin. Daniel had already picked one out at Blake's yesterday, but Johnny just didn't seem to find the "right" pumpkin yesterday.
Okay, so he found one today!!! Um, yeah, we couldn't even lift it. Dude, seriously can you find one a wee bit smaller. It weighs more than you!! So he settles on another and Daniel puts it in the cart. The man inside asks the boys to guess how much it weighs. If they are within 2 pounds, they will get free vampire teeth (candy). Daniel guesses 25 pounds. Johnny guesses 30 pounds. It weighed in at 29.9 pounds. Way to go Johnny!! They both got their teeth and were excited.
At 11:00 they opened up in the back for their petting zoo (2 goats and a few chickens LOL, and they call that a zoo!), coloring contest (they colored with about 10 broken crayons and 5 pieces of chalk) , pumpkin painting (dried out gooey paint) and hay ride. (I can't complain, it was only $1.00 to get in) "Can we go Mom????? PLEASE" We had 20 minutes before 11:00, so we shopped the produce inside LOL.
They had a great time. We were the first on the hayride, so it was just the 3 of us on this big hayride. It was cute. Memories made with my boys.

Mumma says.....Just a warning when buying any DONUTS there....um, I was there Friday and picked up some fruit and stood in front of the donut counter drooling, and looked into the case and there was a yellow jacket feasting on one of the donuts...I told the women and she goes "Oh I will take care of it", like it was an inconvenience. So be careful of anything that is not in packages. Oh their caramel apples...with snickers crumbs...now we are talking and they were covered..didn't pass them up!!!!
Sounds about right for Johnny boy to pick the biggest, after all he is the baby, ya know. Gotta love him. Oh the stories we will tell about that kid someday. Sounds like it was a great day with the boys, even if it wasn't the best of the best in materials!! (Actually that is when you know your kids are alright, when they can accept "less" of the best and have fun with it..think about it!! Good kids.) It was all about being with MOM.
Johnny wanted a donut! I looked into the case looking for his favorite kind, saw all the fruit flies and was so greatful that they did not have the kind he wanted!! We made a quick detour around the corner. "Oh Johnny do you want a caramel apple???" No, he was all set. He had his Pez candy dispenser and a bag of taffy!
Danny Todd couldn't pass up a caramel apple. Awwww, see Grammy he takes after you. He enjoyed eating it while we were on the hayride. Until the bees started chasing after the apple, then it went into the garbage. It was almost gone by then.
I was drooling watch him eat it. YUMMO.
I'm so glad you're taking these opportunities with your boys. You can never do too much with them.
Sounds like a nice, quiet hayride...unlike our "hayride from hell" at the women's campout where we almost lost Grammy. LOL
I'm guessing Dave and Steve may want to carve pumpkins this weekend. They love that! Makes 'em nice and rotten by Halloween. LOL
